Adams appeared before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, where he attributed delays in accessing correspondence from the Commission to ongoing problems with his parliamentary laptop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his testimony, Adams indicated that the laptop had allegedly been problematic for approximately 18 months. He said the device frequently froze or was sent for repairs, affecting his ability to access information. Parliament has now reviewed its ICT Service Desk records following the claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Parliament, its ICT records do not show any reported incident of persistent laptop malfunction, hardware failure, repeated freezing or the device being repeatedly submitted for repairs during the period in question. Instead, Parliament said the recorded incidents mainly involved routine user-access and account-support matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These included a Windows password reset in January 2025, an ERP\/Marang password reset in June 2025, assistance with logging into a device in July 2025, a Wi-Fi update in January 2026 and an ERP\/Marang eDisclosure-related request in June 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Parliament said these matters were logged through its ICT Service Desk and subsequently closed. The institution stressed that password resets, authentication or login difficulties and connectivity configuration are different from a device being technically dysfunctional or unavailable for an extended period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cParliament therefore has no ICT Service Desk record supporting the assertion that Mr Adams’ parliamentary laptop was persistently dysfunctional for approximately 18 months in the manner described before the Commission,\u201d the institution said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Parliament also pointed out that its provision of ICT tools to MPs is not limited to a single laptop. Members are provided with multiple devices, including a laptop, tablet and smartphone, to support continuity of access and enable them to perform their parliamentary responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The institution said established ICT support channels are available when a Member experiences technical problems with an allocated device. It added that alternative Parliament-issued devices can provide continuity of access while a particular device is being attended to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Parliament said its statement was issued to clarify its institutional records rather than comment on the substance of Adams’ evidence before the Madlanga Commission.
